Ordering Your Portuguese NIF, Seamlessly
The Numero de Identificação Fiscal (NIF) is the Portuguese tax number required to open a bank account, rent and/or purchase a property, register for utilities, and many more essential transactions. It’s the one thing that you will need for almost all Portuguese transactions regardless of whether you’re a resident or not.

Prepare your documents:
Regardless of nationality, you will need your passport, along with the following:
For UK and EU citizens, proof of address will also be required.
For non-EU citizens, along with your passport and proof of address (bank statement dated within the last three months is best), you will need to have a fiscal tax representative (our NIF services include 12 months of fiscal tax representation).
Valid Proof of Address:
Any of the following are valid documents for your proof of address:
The first page of a bank statement issued within the past 3 months
A utility bill issued within the past 3 months
A driver's license (front and back).
The document should include your physical address and your name, exactly as shown on your passport.
Note: Can't be a P.O. box or business address.
